Parish Mission Recap
It was unfortunate that we were not able to gather in person for our Lenten Mission with Father James Sullivan, OP, this past week due to the blizzard. Even so, it was truly a joy to spend the week with Father James here at St. Francis Xavier. As you could tell from his talks, he is a gifted preacher and also a genuinely funny and joyful presence. It was a blessing for our parish to welcome him, and I am very grateful for the time he shared with us.
Many parishioners have shared their appreciation that the talks were recorded, since otherwise we likely would not have them to revisit. Thank you for your patience with the recordings.
You may watch or listen to the mission talks on our parish Facebook page or at the link below:
If Father James’s preaching was meaningful to you, I invite you to send him a brief word of thanks or share how the mission impacted you using the Google form below. I know he would be greatly encouraged to hear from you:
As Father James mentioned, if you would like to support his Dominican community, St. Dominic’s Priory in Washington, DC, donations are welcome. You may use the envelopes available in the church entryway this weekend and place them in the collection basket (cash or checks made payable to St. Dominic’s Priory), or you may donate online here:
Thank you for your generosity.
Father James texted to say that he arrived back in Washington, DC safely, and he is grateful for your prayers. As he shared in his final talk, I have invited him to return on December 3, 2026, the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, when he will preach at a special Mass in honor of our patron saint.
