SFX School Receives NEASC Reaccreditation
We were delighted this week to receive official word that the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) has granted St. Francis Xavier School reaccreditation following its comprehensive evaluation of our school this past March.
A few months ago, I asked for your prayers as the visiting team spent several days on campus evaluating every aspect of our school. While we were confident in the wonderful work taking place each day at SFX School, we were grateful to receive the Commission's official affirmation of the outstanding Catholic education being provided here in Acushnet.
The Commission also offered several thoughtful recommendations that will help guide our continued growth and improvement in the years ahead. Accreditation is not just about recognizing past accomplishments, but about continually striving for excellence in fulfilling our mission.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Mrs. Haley Rogers, Mrs. Anabela Shaughnessy, and the teachers and staff who devoted countless hours to preparing the self study, hosting the visiting team, and collaborating throughout this process. Their dedication and love for our school are evident in the report's many commendations.
Many members of our parish are alumni, parents, grandparents, or supporters of SFX School, so I hope you will be encouraged by the Commission's words below. Thank you for your continued prayers, generosity, and unwavering support of Catholic education. We are grateful that the many good things happening in our school have been recognized, and we look forward to building upon this strong foundation for years to come.
Below is an excerpt from the Commission's commendations of St. Francis Xavier School:
The Visiting Team Report identified many areas for commendation. The Commission particularly commends the entire St. Francis Xavier School community for its unwavering commitment to its Catholic mission and for creating a school culture in which faith, relationships, service, and academic excellence are intentionally woven into daily life. Particularly noteworthy are the school's strong partnership with the parish, the meaningful opportunities for student leadership and service, and the intentional efforts to cultivate a sense of belonging through programs that connect students across grade levels and engage families as active partners in the life of the school. The Commission also recognizes the faculty and staff for living the mission authentically and ensuring that Catholic identity remains central to the student experience.
The Commission further commends St. Francis Xavier School for its strong culture of communication, transparency, and thoughtful stewardship in support of the school's long-term vitality. The Commission recognizes the collaborative efforts of the Principal, Pastor, School Advisory Board, faculty, and families in advancing strategic priorities, strengthening governance practices, and supporting the school's continued growth and sustainability. Specifically, the school's inclusive strategic planning process, commitment to financial responsibility, and ongoing efforts to enhance enrollment, advancement, and community engagement are clear strengths. Collectively, these efforts reflect a school community that honors its rich traditions while planning intentionally for the future.
St. Francis Xavier School should celebrate its accomplishments. These are proud achievements and milestones in the life of the school.
