Dear Parish Family,
Just a quick note today. I wasn't able to send my usual Friday newsletter this past weekend, and since a few people have wondered whether there was a problem with their email or phone, I wanted to let you know there wasn't. It was simply an unusually busy week. God willing, I'll be back with the regular newsletter this Friday.
I also wanted to let you know that we received the sad news this morning that Germaine St. Gelais passed away at the age of 90.
For decades, Germaine and her husband, Donald, have been faithful fixtures of St. Francis Xavier Parish. Many of you will remember Donald's years of leadership with the Men of the Sacred Heart. Many parishioners will also remember Germaine sharing her gift of music over the years, especially singing at our parish picnics. Many in our parish family have known and loved Germaine for many years.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Rock Funeral Home. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated here at St. Francis Xavier Parish on Friday, August 7, at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Rural Cemetery in New Bedford.
Please join me in praying for Donald and the entire St. Gelais family during this time of grief, asking the Lord to grant Germaine eternal rest and the consolation of His peace to all who mourn her.
